If you want a new translator and tested used mas or new mas.
http://www.ongreenperformance.com/

I have read that any aluminum body gm mas will work. There is a three page list around some where of what cars used the 3".

I would think the 3" would be fine and easier to tune than the 3.5.

Any dsm wise man will tell you to use a safc2 or newer with it for better tuning.

Everything is readily available used for much less.

A wide band gauge is recccommed.

If you get the one with the 1st gen eclicpe plug, you just hack the plug a little. Then plug and pray. Smile

It all here, some where. Wink

you really dont have to go thru all that, couple snips of the 1G plug and it will plug right in.

if your on a budget build the basic box is really all you need. they have the more advanced versions for you guys rolling in cash but the basic version will please you just fine.

this box also allows the elimination of the dreaded "fuel cut" on the 87 ECU and there isnt really a need to swap over to the 88-89 ecu system. i would have to vote this as the the ' BEST TBI MOD FOR THE BUCK" cause it really does open a world of possibility for the TBI guys.

Hey, guys, can't you produce the 6 pin connector....I asked.

They had lil' knowledge of the Starquest. Mad

Sure would be nice to have WEATHER-PROOF connectors. Rolling Eyes

then head to the bone yard and pull the end of the wire harness off a 1G car and hard wire it in place of the stock quest mass air plug then it will plug and play and have a water seal. Cool

i was attempting to wire candis 86 for a maft and i hardwired in a 1g plug so either mass air systems could still be used in the event of failuar of the MAFT the stock mass could be plugged right back in.

and yes the people at FULL THROTTLE have NO knowledge of starquest, its only chance that we are able to use it since our systems are very close to the 1G.

even the basic version has fine RPM tuning that can be done to it if you have the rpm signal hooked up. according to full throttle we should be able to pull that rpm signal from a MSD box if your using one. i never got around to setting mine up for the fine RPM tuning because i didnt have a wideband so it was really pointless.

i really think a lot of the unseen power we get from the maft is being able to dump that stupid super restrictive stock mass air and it actually allows the turbo to breath. you will see much faster spool times cause there isnt a air restriction BEFORE the turbo.

I have been noticing, lately... Rolling Eyes the 3.1L, GM V-6s had the
the 3.5" Mas from the factory.

My 3.8L had the 3" Mas. Weird. Cool
