yeah, if it was still actually making useable power at 6600rpm Id be suprised. SQR, is prolly right about the detonation.

That SRT8 better have been heavily modded for you to have to run up to 150 to challenge him. Most of them are ghosts by 70mph

When & if he takes apart the bottom end....don't be surprised if all
the engine bearings wear STARVED of engine oil.

Sustanded, 6,600 rpm, all the oil could be UPSTAIRS!

A LIGHT could have warned you....BACK-OFF!

It actually suprised me that the car pulled that kind of rpm, it's been the first one that would for me.

As far as keeping up with the SRT8, I never even downshifted from 5th. I was cruising along at 80 when she passed, probably doing over 100. She slowed down, got over in front of me, then as I was going by, she got into it, I simply rolled into the throttle to keep up. This run went about 15 miles. The temp gauge normally runs right at 1/3 on this car. It was just a tic over half at the end of the run. Oil pressure was good the whole time. O2 gauge showed a bit rich the whole time. (Granted, I was NOT watching the gauges the WHOLE time....)

Also, Bryan and I knew nothing about this block, I bought the car it came out of as a non-runner, that was supposedly a forged build. That turned out to be not true. Looked like a stock ring and bearing job. I don't believe Bryan pulled any of the main or rod caps to inspect bearings. Carried good oil pressure. Hell, it's still slightly over half on the oil pressure gauge even with the rod knock.

stock block

the main parts of the car like block, trans, clutch, head and stuff like that really are a bunch of different used parts that either i or other people had laying around.
Laughing

Ohhhhhhhh, that "engine". Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

The cam towers were not OEM, matched, on Cyberquest's head.

A OEM oil pressure gauge is a SLOW RESPONSE time. Rolling Eyes

Looking at it at 6,600 rpm, 150mph..... Rolling Eyes what balls you have. Laughing

Slow response time of oil pressure is coverd her:

That idea came from the Nissan guys. Rolling Eyes

94 octane pump, timing backed down to 12-13degrees, boost still at 25 though.....

And actually, I'm extremely suprised "that engine" lasted as long as it did.....lol

Me, too! Laughing

I look at it this way...you more than likely saved his life,
from removing him from that car. Rolling Eyes

There's another lil' trick to cancel the Alternator charge, too. Cool

6600 rpms and 150 mph...

i've typed and re-type ten different things to say but i just dont have anything to say that probably wouldnt piss someone off.

i had almost 20,000 miles of pure DRIVING time on that block and would have trusted it to drive anywhere in the US. i drove that car to branson missouri with ZERO problems, then drove to PF tennessee with no problems. but i also had the rev limiter set at 5500 rpms and boost was 18-20psi.

i think the problem has NOTHING to do with the car or the block.

larry i love you like family brother but god damn you are hard on quests.

hahahahaha! Yeah, I've got money that says you weren't doing any good 6600rpm or even 6200. But what matters is, wasnt it fun!!

I almost didn't say ANYTHING about this incident precisely because of this.....

I'm in no way blaming you Bryan, I KNOW I'm the cause of the issues.

Now.....wanna come down and help swap an engine? Cool

Well lets disect shall we.

Unknown condition block out of parts car
Mileage????
Mismatched other bits
20,000mi more in the hands of Bryan
And then raped by slowquest for something like 6mo.
To finally fail at 6000+rpm's

That was a badass motor... Cool Now fix it and go faster!

That's the plan.....

and just to clarify, if I had ANY doubts about Bryan's ability, I would not have agreed to buy the car in the first place. If I had left the car as it was when I picked it up, I'm sure it'd be sitting outside work here now, running just the same as it did when I picked it up.
